Die Halle, ein Monumentalbau im Herzen von London, genannt Olympia, projektiert von dem Stararchitekten Henry E. Coe, wurde vom Juli 1885 bis Dez. 1886 gebaut. Am 27.12.1886 fand die feierliche Einweihung mit der Eröffnung eines Hippodroms statt.
